EAT THAT SOCK RPG 3!

Where did it all start? Why did Eat That Sock! happen? Who is Sock-Bill, who is Sock-Junior, who is Sock-Bob? Do they have a family? How are they related? Not even they know this, until this adventure...

Who was Zot from ETSRPG2? What was he? Who was he? From whom did his power come? Who made him, and when? What is his relation to the Baker-General, to NASDAQ, and to Myrkor? What drove his creator to create him? How did he come back to life after years of inactivity?

Who was flameETERNAL from ETSRPG, and why did he kidnap Sock-Bob?

Why were the Caves of Lyths in ETSRPG2? What is "Lyths," anyway?

Does the planet have a soul, ie, Gaea? Is Gaea still alive?

Will Zot come back to life once again, in another form?

These questions will all be answered...

        I. PREMISE
*----------------------------

Three years after the end of ETSRPG2, Sock-Bill is confronted by a man in a suit while he is in the Happy Grass Grove. The man demands that Sock-Bill sell the Grove, and Sock-Bill consents. Soon all of northern Sockae is bought up and turned into Sockae Nuclear Power Plant, which is controlled by the elusive Dr. Zothalisk CXI, the hundred eleventh descendent of Dr. Zothalisk, who created Zoth in the year 3 B.Z. (Before Zoth, that is, before the Great Zothic War that was in the year 0).

Sock-Bill and Sock-Junior do not trust that Dr. Zothalisk CXI is not up to evil, so they go find him in the power plant, and soon they come face to face with their destiny in an epic adventure through time.

    II. Controls (Field)
**---------------------------

RIGHT ARROW: Move right
LEFT ARROW: Move left
UP ARROW: Move up
DOWN ARROW: Move down
ENTER: Skip unimportant cutscenes
       Enter Door/Area
       Etc.
TAB: Enter the Party Member Switch Screen

In the upper left corner of the screen is a marker of the current year you are in. It is either A.Z. (After the Zothic War) or B.Z. (Before the Zothic War). The year 0 in this calendar is roughly A.D. 2046 in our calendar. Years you will see range from infinity B.Z. to infinity A.Z.

Encounters are either random or expected, as with bosses.

--------------------------***
    II. Controls (Combat)
***--------------------------

You begin seeing roughly this:

SP:XXXXXXXX (YOU) XXXXXXXX:HP
<mgc><atk>(YOUNAME)<def><itm>
       ENEMY     ENEMY
<run>

Click on one of the buttons.

Items:
---

ATK = ATTACK
You will see this:
WHOM ATTACK: (YOURNAME) EnemyName1
Press Right or Left arrows to choose which enemy to attack, then press Enter.
---

DEF = DEFEND
Your character will defend as the enemy makes its move.
---

ITM = ITEM
You will see this:
ITEM UTILIZE:(YOURNAME) Item1
Like with attack selection, use Right and Left arrows to choose an Item to use, then press Enter. The item will be used on your current party member.
---

RUN = RUN
You will exit the battle to the map whence you came. This option is disabled in boss battles.
---

After you make your move, one of the enemies will attack you, and you will progress to your next party member to make the next move.
You can move out of a battle mode by right clicking.

In certain battles one of your characters may become bored. You can see this because the character's image becomes darker. This halves the power of each sock dropped. It can be cured by any of the boredom-curing items you obtain from shops.

DO NOT FIGHT BY HOLDING DOWN ENTER.
DO NOT DOUBLE-CLICK ICONS.
DO NOT DEFEND A LOT.

-------------------------****
     IV. Controls (Shop)
****-------------------------

You will see a screen listing your current inventory, the items to buy, your current amount of money, a price of the item you have selected to buy, and a description thereof.

First select the item you wish to purchase, then hit Right Arrow to move the arrow to your inventory so you can select where to put it. If you put, say, CandySock in a spot in your inventory where there already is a Candy Sock, you will have two Candy Socks in that spot. Your inventory can only have three unique items, so if you put a Adrenalin Shot in a spot where you used to have 200 Candy Socks, you lose all of the Candy Socks as they are overwritten by the one Adrenalin Shot. So be careful!

   VII. Extra Information
*******----------------------

This game was created in Multimedia Fusion starting 15 April 43 B.Z. to 23 November 43 B.Z. with tremendous gaps wherein nothing was accomplished. (all of September and October)
This game's story was worked on since 2 April 43 B.Z., when the Author should have been doing homework in Study Hall.
There is a disparity in the amount of HP lost/gained between your two party members in battles. This is intentional. It's easy to figure out why it's happening and avert it.
This game was published through edrt.exe and Canjo.net hosting.
This game was brought to you by CanjTech Enterprises Inc.
When loading Disc 2, just load ETSRPG3-Disc2.exe and go to Continue. Same for Disc 3, obviously.
***The original MMF source file for Disc 3 exploded completely and turned into a 14 byte file containing two Japanese characters. So there were several changes I wanted to make that I couldn't, and a bug or two I wanted to fix that I couldn't, in addition to a lot of special effects etc. that would have been neat. But too bad.
***Glitch resulting from the above: When you choose to Fight Zothafel or Change History, if you want to Fight Zothafel you have to first go to the Change History option then back up.
That's also why there's no special icon. I couldn't make one for Disc 3, so I thought it would be inconsistent to make them for some and not others. Well, it doesn't matter, right? Also as a result of this tragedy there can be no neat installer.
This is the final Eat That Sock! game.
And now, a large blank space.

There, now this will look longer when one is starting to read it.
